IXOS Overture XHT458
"High-end in appearance, the 1m Overture consists of fine quality die-cast, collar-locked plugs, coupled with 9mm-diameter cable and covered with dark grey nylon weave. The individual screened signal-carrying wire pairs are fabricated from oversized high-grade PC-OFC conductors, with nitrogen-injected polyethylene dielectric. Two further levels of screening, meanwhile, ensure freedom from radio interference, as do the screening properties of the plugs, which also feature gold-plated signal pins and a complex internal construction designed to minimise unwanted crosstalk and ensure the correct impedance. IXOS admits that the 7.5m represents the Overture’s limit as far as the serious data transfer rates associated with 1080p are concerned. If longer distances (up to 11m) are envisioned, it recommends using a £50 device known as the XHT807 at the source end of the cable. This is a passive equaliser, built around the companies patented iVEC circuitry. For even longer distances, there’s the XHT808 repeater - a £150 active equalisation/amplification device that sits between two lengths of cable. With the XHT808, total runs of 25m for 1080p (35m for 1080i) are possible. Our 1m sample performed admirably – even with 1080p and multi-channel audio."

Make The Connection
IXOS XHA516-100m - 4 stars
IXOS cables tend to sound refined, and the new XHA516-100 is no different: harshness and rough edges are non-existent. However, dynamic range is less impressive than the best here, and bass is a little sluggish and soft. If you’re after a gentle, mature sound, that’s fine, but if drama and excitement is your bag, walk away.

IXOS Adds Studio HDMI Range
New from IXOS is an affordable range of HDMI cables, designed to slot in below the company’s Overture and XEN ranges.
The new Studio XHT288 range comes in lengths from one to five metres meets the latest HDMI 1.3 1080p specification and is fully certified by HDMI LLC.
The cables use a proprietary nitrogen-injected dielectric, triple shielding to give maximum protection from interference, and hard gold plated connectors.
Designed as a ‘first upgrade’ cable, the Studio XHT288 costs £45 for a 1m length, £60 for a 2m, £70 for a 3m and £80 for the maximum 5m run.

IXOS Announces XEN XHV904 Component Video Interconnect
Component video can carry analogue HDTV video and in this usage the quality of the signal cable is paramount.

This new one-metre IXOS interconnect delivers stunning performance for all signals including 1080p and is designed for one single purpose, to take the component signal at best quality, from a source to a Home Cinema receiver for video processing. The receiver can then convert to HDMI for long runs or continue with component to the display.
Modern video sources place huge demands on cable quality and 1080p HDTV makes the highest. To meet this requirement IXOS(r) have designed a new reference Component Video cable that carries the full HDTV 720/1080 bandwidth and has incredibly effective quadruple shields against interference.
To carry the high-resolution signals, the XHV904 features three separate high-bandwidth connectors with silver plated (SP) PC-OFC conductors and four separate layers of OFC braid and Al-Mylar wrap shielding.
